HP 3301 help

The HP 3301 says a cartridge is unauthorized or protected.

HP builds two optional locks into the printer. Cartridge Policy accepts only genuine HP cartridges. Cartridge Protection ties cartridges to one printer. Both are off by default.

Steps

Open the printer’s web page (it may ask for the admin password or the PIN inside the front door).
Click Supplies and find the Cartridge Policy and Cartridge Protection settings.
Turn Cartridge Policy off to allow non-HP cartridges.
Turn Cartridge Protection off before fitting a new cartridge you do not want locked to this printer.

Good to know

Turning Cartridge Protection off does not unlock cartridges that are already protected.
