HP 3301 help

Turn HP 3301 firmware updates on or off.

Out of the box the printer checks HP for updates by itself. You can let it install them, only notify you, or not check at all.

Steps

On the Home screen tap Menu, scroll to Utilities and tap Settings.
Tap Firmware Update, then Next.
Choose Auto Update (installs updates), Notify (tells you an update is ready) or Do Not Check.

Good to know

To update once by hand from a computer: open the printer’s web page, click General → Firmware Update → Check for Update. The printer installs it and restarts.
HP’s updates can block cartridges with a non-HP chip. If you use compatible toner, Do Not Check keeps a working setup working.
