Find which toner cartridge causes spots or streaks.

The print quality troubleshooting page prints color bands in four groups, one per cartridge: yellow, cyan, black and magenta.

Steps

  1. On the Home screen tap Menu, scroll to Utilities and tap Tools.
  2. Tap Troubleshooting → Print Quality Troubleshooting Page.
  3. Spots or streaks in one group only: replace that color’s cartridge.
  4. Spots in several groups: print a cleaning page. Same-color spots everywhere: replace that color.
  5. Streaks across several bands: contact HP, the cause is probably not a cartridge.
