Toner isn't bundled, which keeps the price low. It takes HP 138A or 138X cartridges. The set we point people at is a compatible 138X 2-pack — about $40 on Amazon, rated by the seller at up to 4,000 pages per cartridge, sold with the chip fitted. HP's firmware updates can block cartridges with a non-HP chip, so turn off the printer's automatic firmware updates before fitting them. Original HP 138A / 138X cartridges always work.
